First starter’s, the Spohn’s are AWESOME people. My stay was incredible, the shower was HUGE and the breakfast, OH MY GOSH delicious…… I will be planning on coming back again to this place AWAY from the city of Overland Park…….Thank you goes to the Elms for making a mistake on my room there and selling it out from underneath me…..LOL! JK, they are great over there too since I own a DJ business playing music for a wonderful couple! Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Spohn for such a outstanding Bed & Breakfast!
Definitely recommend! My sister’s wedding was in town and my friends and I chose to stay here because it was within walking distance from the reception hall. Our stay here was amazing! Any questions I had prior to showing up, the owners answered right away. The rooms are super clean and anything we could possibly need was there for us to use. The owners have really done a great job restoring this place. The breakfast was amazing and the owners definitely made us feel right at home. We had others from the wedding party staying at other bed and breakfasts and we had the best experience out of everyone. We will be back!!
Payne Jailhouse B&B to the rescue! Mark and Anna Sue graciously and warmly welcomed us to the Bed and Breakfast…they were extremely accommodating and made sure our wedding night was special. The next morning we enjoyed a delicious home-made breakfast complete with a to-die-for cinnamon roll. I highly recommend Payne Jailhouse B&B!
First time stay. Had a great 2 nights of relaxing comfort, delicious breakfasts, pleasing conversation with the owners. And the history of the place (an old jail, completely gutted and rehabbed as a B&B by the owners) made it all the more enjoyable. Highest recommendation!
We were looking for a place to stay when we scheduled the wine tour as a late birthday getaway. My eye caught the Payne Jailhouse Bed & Breakfast as I used to work for a sheriff and police dept. We were able to book the “Caribbean” room.
Our room had a king sized bed, was colorful and reminded you of a tropical getaway. We had the first floor to ourselves. There was a large uptodate shower. The owners Anna Sue and Mark were very attentitive to our needs right down to breakfasts being prepared. You knew Anna Sue had put a lot of effort into the preparation and serving of our breakfast. Mark told us the history of the house and the restoration project that they undertook. I found out my uncle had actually helped restore the house and was friends with the owners. Be sure to write your name on the dining room wall. They also have a journal in your room to leave a message for future guests. Our room had complimentary water, pop, chocolate, nuts and popcorn. The room also has a microwave and refrigerator. There is a microbrewery going in across the street.
We highly recommend staying at the Payne Jailhouse B&B. Mark and Anna Sue will treat you to some of the best hospitality around. Very close to the downtown historical area. Excellent hospitaltiy. Very relaxing.
I want to thank everyone for making our wedding night very special and for making us feel at home. I forgot to check in and completely let it slip my mind as the start time for my wedding was quickly approaching. Mark called and said everything was taken care of and even was there to meet us after our evening was over. The room was fantastic and super cozy. This was our first bed and breakfast experience and I had only seen pictures. Let me tell you that the pictures, although nice, certainly do not do this place justice. The room we had was very modern and yet remained cozy enough that we felt at ease after a stressful day of wedding stuff. It was great to relax and have everything we needed just in case we forgot things. Breakfast the next morning was great. I’ve never had breakfast enchiladas but they were a welcome surprise as was the cinnamon roll. Definitely yummy! We met some very nice people and had a good conversation with them over breakfast. In the dining room there is a wall where people can leave their experience for others to see, nothing but good vibes and positive words.
